UW-Eau Claire Forensics Team Places Third at Twin Tournaments

RELEASED: Oct. 7, 2008

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team placed third at both Mid American Forensics League Tournaments #1 and #2. The tournaments were hosted at the University of Northern Iowa Sept. 27 and at Wartburg College Sept. 28.

Nine UW-Eau Claire students traveled to participate at the tournaments. Twelve schools competed at MAFL #1 and 13 schools competed in MAFL #2. UW-Eau Claire placed third overall in both competitions.

Following are results from MAFL #1:

Sophomore Dylan Jambrek, Waukesha, placed first in extemporaneous, first in rhetorical criticism and second in persuasion.

Sophomore Sarah Taylor, Merrill, took second in after-dinner speaking.

Junior Emily Schreiner, Wausau, took third in informative speaking and sixth in persuasion.

Junior Nick Miller, Hales Corners, took third in after-dinner speaking.

Senior Katie Nichols, Pembine, placed third in persuasion.

Senior Justin Rudnick, Menomonie, took fifth place in informative speaking.

Following are results from MAFL #2:

Jambrek took first in extemporaneous, first in persuasion and second in rhetorical criticism.

Miller placed first in after-dinner speaking.

Taylor placed second in after-dinner speaking.

Sophomore Whitney Zahn, Menomonee Falls, took second in informative speaking.

Schreiner placed third in informative speaking and fourth in persuasion.

Nichols placed fifth in persuasion.

Junior April Ross, Wauwatosa, placed sixth in impromptu speaking.
