EAU CLAIRE — The Hockey Profs will face off against University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire student athletes at 3 p.m. Oct. 11 at Hobbs Ice Arena in Eau Claire.

The proceeds will go to the Future of Ice, an effort by a consortium of community groups to raise funds for the renovation and expansion of Hobbs Ice Arena. The Ice Sports Consortium includes representatives from the city of Eau Claire, the Eau Claire Figure Skating Club, the hockey programs at Memorial and North high schools, Eau Claire Youth Hockey, and the UW-Eau Claire men's and women's hockey programs.

"The Hockey Profs decided to donate money raised from this annual event to the Future of Ice Campaign because we felt it would impact so many people in the Eau Claire community," said Geoffrey Pignotta, assistant professor of geology and a member of the Hockey Profs. "With a better facility and more ice to skate on, everyone benefits organized hockey at all levels, recreational hockey, figure skating and the fans and parents who support the skaters."

Members of the Hockey Prof team include Fred Kolb, economics; Pignotta; Jeff Janot, kinesiology; Brian Levin-Stankevich, chancellor; Phillip Ostrander, music and theatre arts; Tina Killey, Activities and Programs; Joe Morin, education; Matt Loen, Erik Strand, Bob Thorp and Amanda Schultz, athletics; Jim Phillips, chemistry; Erin Szpara, graduate student; and Terry Neff, team athletic therapist.

Tickets are $4 for adults, $1 for youth 16 and under, and free for UW-Eau Claire students. Tickets can be purchased after Oct. 3 in the Activities and Programs office in Room 133 of Davies Center or at Riverside Bike and Skate in Eau Claire. Tickets also will be available at the door.
