Jazz Ensemble I to Perform Dec. 5

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Jazz Ensemble I will present a winter concert at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 5 in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

Jazz Ensemble I, directed by Robert Baca, professor of music, will begin with John Clayton's "Little Old Lady," followed by "Yes and No" by Wayne Shorter, as arranged by UW-Eau Claire music graduate Andy Neesley, and "John Coltrane Suite" by Michael Phillip Mossman. The first half of the concert will conclude with "Liberia" by John Coltrane and "London Bridge" by Sammy Nestico.

The second half of the performance will begin with David Cutler's "Not a Whisper," followed by "Cerulean Skies" by Grammy-award-winning composer Maria Schneider, "The Twelve Days of Christmas" by Stan Kenton, and Jim Kellerman's arrangement of "Joy to the World." The concert will conclude with Eddie Pola and George Wyle's "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year," featuring sophomore Joe Holtan, Port Washington, on vocals.

Tickets, available at the University Service Center, 715-836-3727 or 800-949-UWEC, are $5 for the general public; $4 for those 62 and older, children 17 and younger and faculty and staff with a university ID; and $1.50 for students with a university ID.

Tickets for all campus events also are on sale at the Service Center's ticket office in the main lobby of Haas Fine Arts Center. The ticket outlet is open Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and is closed during holidays and academic breaks.
