UW-Eau Claire's Creative Arts Magazine
Awarded Honorable Mention in National Competition

RELEASED: Nov. 24, 2008

bookcover for spring issue of NOTAEAU CLAIRE — NOTA, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's creative arts organization, was awarded an honorable mention in the AIGA BlueRidge 2008 Flux Student Design Competition. NOTA received the award for its spring 2008 issue.

Juniors Kaleb Durocher, Wisconsin Rapids, and Lee Wegener, Hartland, and sophomore Ben Larson, Hudson, NOTA's art directors and designers, said the award winning issue was a product of intense labor, creativity and collaboration. They also said the entire staff was honored to be recognized alongside top schools at the national level in the competition.

"This award coincides with NOTA's shift toward a top-tier, professional catalogue of creative work on campus," Durocher said.

AIGA was formerly the acronym for the American Institute of Graphic Arts, which now simply identifies itself as AIGA. AIGA now claims 55,000 members and 56 chapters nationwide. The BlueRidge chapter of AIGA, which includes chapters from Western Maryland, Southwestern Pennsylvania, Northern Virginia and Northeastern West Virginia, teams up with Shepherd University, Shepherdstown, W. Va., to sponsor the Flux Student Design Competition. The accomplished designers who judged the competition reviewed more than 400 entries ranging from identity, publication, packaging, poster and Web designs. Winning entries will be displayed at The Blue Elephant Art Center in Fredrick, Md.
