RELEASED: Nov. 20, 2008

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Women's Chorus will present its fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 24 in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

The Women's Chorus, directed by Robert Mondlock, lecturer of music, will open with Ren Clausen's arrangement of "Psalm 100," featuring a 10-member student ensemble highlighting wind, percussion and piano. Next will be Moses Hogan's arrangement of "Lily of the Valley" and "'Tis a Gift to Be Simple," arranged by Alice Parker. The first half of the concert will conclude with "Lux Aeterna," arranged by Z. Randall Stroope and featuring Gary Schwartzhoff, professor of music, as guest conductor.

During the intermission, the "Chips" Barbershop Quartet, featuring members from the Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls area, will perform. The group's main purpose is to spread the joy of music through song and preserve and encourage the old original art form of barbershop harmony.

The second half of the concert will begin with John Rutter's "Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day," featuring sophomore Kristen Roberts, Des Moines, Ia., on harp, followed by "In Stiller Nacht," arranged by Johannes Brahms, and "Danny Boy," arranged by Linda Spevacek and featuring Daniel Newman, associate professor of music, as vocal soloist. The concert will conclude with "Let It Shine!" arranged by Kari Ala-Pollanen.

Tickets, available at the University Service Center, 715-836-3727 or 800-949-UWEC, are $4 for the general public; $3 for those 62 and older, children 17 and younger and faculty and staff with a university ID; and free for students with a university ID.

Tickets for campus events also are on sale at the Service Center's ticket office in the main lobby of Haas Fine Arts Center. The ticket outlet is open from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is closed during holidays and academic breaks.
