UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education to Offer
Spring 2009 ACT Prep Course

RELEASED: Nov. 18, 2008

ACT imageEAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education will offer an ACT Prep courses on the UW-Eau Claire campus in spring 2009. Classes will be held Saturday mornings from Jan. 24-March 7 or Sunday afternoons from Jan. 25-March 8.

The course will offer high school students an opportunity to prepare for the April and June national ACT exam dates.

The ACT Prep Course will cover the four academic areas measured by the ACT: English, reading, mathematics and scientific reasoning. Some time also will be spent on ACT's optional writing exam. Students will take two official ACT practice exams and receive detailed computer analyses of their results. All students will receive a comprehensive ACT textbook that will be theirs to keep.

UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education youth coordinator Libby Thurston said she believes the program will serve a need in the community for additional college entrance test preparation.

"The ACT Prep Course is meant to complement shorter programs already offered in the community," Thurston said. "It's a cost effective option for students who need a little more review. While many students opt to prepare on their own, some students benefit from a more structured environment."

The ACT Prep Course tuition is $149, which includes instruction, practice exams, test analyses and the ACT textbook.
