Women's Concert Chorale to Perform Nov. 16

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Eau Claire Women's Concert Chorale will present a concert at 5 p.m. Nov. 16 in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

The Women's Concert Chorale, directed by Alan Rieck, associate professor of music, will begin the performance with "Pueri Concinite" by Jacob Handl. Next will be Franz Biebl's "Ave Maria," featuring senior Caitlin Nelson, Green Bay, as student conductor. The first set of the concert will conclude with a performance of "Hopkinton" by William Billing.

The second set will consist of James Mulholland's "Portraits by a Neighbor" and "I Could Not Let You Go," featuring senior Kathy Eckes, Maple Grove, Minn., on piano; and "She Weeps Over Rahoon," featuring Melissa Linzmeier, Greenleaf, as student conductor. The first half of the concert will conclude with "Hello, Girls," as arranged by Lloyd Pfautsch.

The second half will open with "O Music" by Lowell Mason, "God's Bottles" by Randall Thompson and "My Girls" by Gwyneth Walker. Next will be "Wish You Were Here" by Nathan Christensen and "Living in a Holy City" by Stephen Hatfield, featuring senior Matt Gullickson, Mankato, Minn., on percussion. The concert will conclude with Ysaye Barnwell's "We Are."

One of six choral ensembles at UW-Eau Claire, Women's Concert Chorale consists of female students from many academic disciplines. In addition to regular concerts, the group tours and is featured at the Viennese Ball. Women's Concert Chorale performed its first international tour in March 2005 in the People's Republic of China and will tour South Africa during Spring Break 2009, including a performance at the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls.

Tickets, available at the University Service Center, 715-836-3727 or 800-949-UWEC, are $5 for the general public; $4 for those 62 and older, children 17 and younger and faculty and staff with a university ID; and $1.50 for students with a university ID. Tickets for all campus events also are on sale at the Service Center's ticket office in the lobby of Haas Fine Arts Center. The ticket outlet is open from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and is closed during holidays and academic breaks.
