UW-Eau Claire Forensics Team Places First in MAFL Tournaments

RELEASED: Nov. 4, 2008

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team took first place Oct. 25-26 at Mid American Forensics League tournaments No. 3 and No. 4 hosted by UW-Eau Claire.

Following are the individual results from MAFL No. 3:

Junior April Ross, Wauwatosa, took first in impromptu and sixth in extemporaneous.

Senior Eric Plantenberg, Monroe, placed second in informative speaking, second in persuasive speaking, and second in a duo interpretation with senior Justin Rudnick, Stanley.

Junior Emily Schreiner, Wausau, took third in persuasive speaking, third in rhetorical criticism and fifth in informative speaking.

Junior Nick Miller, Hales Corners, took third in after-dinner speaking.

Rudnick placed third in informative speaking.

Junior Laura Magnusson, Apple Valley, Minn., took fourth in a duo interpretation with Miller and sixth in informative speaking.

Junior Jake Johnson, Mondovi, placed fourth in informative speaking.

Sophomore Sarah Taylor, Merrill, took fifth in program oral interpretation.

Junior Whitney Zahn, Menomonee Falls, took seventh in after-dinner speaking.

Following are the individual results from MAFL No. 4:

Plantenberg took first in informative speaking, first in persuasive speaking, third in duo interpretation with Rudnick, and fourth in prose.

Junior BJ Pickard, Eau Claire, placed second in dramatic interpretation and second in a duo interpretation with freshman Natalie Hunter, Vadnais Heights, Minn., and fourth in after-dinner speaking.

Rudnick placed second in informative speaking and third in poetry.

Ross took third in impromptu.

Magnusson took third in informative speaking and seventh in dramatic interpretation.

Johnson placed fourth in extemporaneous speaking.

Schreiner placed fourth in rhetorical criticism.

Taylor took fifth in program oral interpretation and fifth in impromptu speaking.

Sophomore Alicia Gerber, Ringle, placed sixth in after-dinner speaking.
