UW-Eau Claire Alpha Lambda Delta,
Phi Eta Sigma Chapters Present Awards

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire chapter of the national Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma honor societies for first-year students recently presented awards to several current and alumni Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma members.

Erin Flanagan, Appleton; Andrew Simon, Green Bay; and Stacey Epping, Waunakee, received local Alpha Lambda Delta Joanne Trow Undergraduate Scholarships. Phi Eta Sigma also awarded five local scholarships to Tess Kerr, Coleman; Flanagan; Simon; Epping; and Kelly O'Shea, Blaine, Minn. These scholarships are presented to outstanding undergraduate student members of Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma who represent the society's ideals of scholarship, service and integrity. Flanagan and Simon's Alpha Lambda Delta applications were forwarded to the Alpha Lambda Delta national Trow scholarship competition, and Kerr and Flanagan's Phi Eta Sigma applications were forwarded to the national Phi Eta Sigma competition.

Liza Huber, Chanhassen, Minn., received this year's Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma book award, presented to the senior with the highest cumulative grade-point average.

Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma are national honor societies that recognize and encourage academic excellence among first-year students. Membership in Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma is available to full-time freshmen who achieve a grade-point average of 3.5 or better at a four-year college or university and are in the top 20 percent of their class.
