RELEASED: May 8, 2008

Chippewa Valley Youth Symphony logoEAU CLAIRE — The Chippewa Valley Youth Symphony and University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension will hold auditions for the 2008-09 season from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. May 17 at the UW-Eau Claire Haas Fine Arts Center.

The Youth Symphony is an enrichment program offered to students in grades 7 to 12 to enhance their overall understanding of music and to help them grow as performers.

Members of the youth symphony will work with music director Eugene Power and section leaders in small and large group rehearsals from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesdays culminating in a concert season of public performances in the Chippewa Valley.

Musicians must register online for an audition time.

Once registered, an audition time will be sent by e-mail. If someone is unable to audition on May 17, they must e-mail info@cvyouthsymphony.org so an alternate time can be arranged.

All current and new students who are interested in being in the youth symphony must audition.

The fees for participation in the youth symphony are $75 per student per semester. The fee includes all music, rehearsals and performances. Need-based scholarships are available.
