EAU CLAIRE — Three music professors at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will participate in a donation-based competition that will end with one of them getting a pie thrown in their face.
The "Face the Music" concert will run from 4-9 p.m. May 9 at the Owen Park band shell. The free concert is an annual fundraiser for Sigma Alpha Iota, the women's music fraternity at UW-Eau Claire.
SAI will accept donations in three separate jars, with each of the jars assigned to a different faculty member. The professor with the most money in his or her jar will get a pie in the face at 6 p.m. Participating faculty members are music theory professors Dr. Ryan Jones and Dr. Ethan Wickman and vocal professor Dr. Jessica Riley.
Donations will be collected in the lobby of the Haas Fine Arts Center beginning May 5 and continue until 6 p.m. May 9. Proceeds will help support an SAI scholarship and help bring guest artists to campus. Last year, the fraternity hosted composer Libby Larsen.
All the bands that will perform at "Face the Music" include UW-Eau Claire students. The schedule for May 9 is as follows:
