SUBJECT: "NanoDay in the Chippewa Valley" slated for April 3
"NanoDay in the Chippewa Valley," a series of events designed to promote an understanding of nanotechnology, will be offered April 3 at various locations.
Dr. Doug Dunham, director of the UW-Eau Claire Materials Science Center at UW-Eau Claire, is available to talk with the media about "NanoDay in the Chippewa Valley." You can reach him at 715-836-5312 or dunhamdj@uwec.edu.
Among the events that may interest reporters and/or photographers are:
8:30-11 a.m.
"An Elementary Introduction to Nanotechnology" will feature a presentation on materials science and nanotechnology at Fall Creek Elementary School. Dunham and student Patrese Hoffman will lead the session.
11:15 a.m.-12:10 p.m.
Dr. Forrest S. Schultz of UW-Stout and students will share recent developments in nanotechnology in the Chippewa Valley during a live Web cast.
3:30-5:30 p.m.
An open house at the NanoRite Innovation Center at the Chippewa Valley Technical College will include demonstrations and tours.
6:15-7 p.m.
An open house at the Materials Science Center at UW-Eau Claire will feature the instrumentation available for research and development in the area of materials science and nanotechnology. Hands-on nanoscience displays will help illustrate important concepts in nanoscience. Dunham will lead the tour.
7-8 p.m.
Dr. Naomi J. Halas of Rice University will give a presentation titled "Merging Nanotechnology with Light for Biomedicine."
