EAU CLAIRE — Jazz in the Valley is in its final stages, but that doesn't mean it's going out quietly.
A jazz art walk will take place March 24-30 at Acoustic Café and Porters Restaurant in downtown Eau Claire, where the usual wall hangings will be replaced with jazz-themed art works of area youth and local artists. The Haas Fine Arts Center at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will feature contest-winning jazz posters by Northstar Middle School students. Also, the State Theatre will display artwork during "Jazz at 5" on Tuesday, March 25.
Memorial High School students Cheng Cheng and Simon Adler will collaborate with Robert Baca, director of jazz studies at UW-Eau Claire, at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 24, at L.E. Phillips Public Library. The three will share knowledge about the history of jazz, featuring videos, pictures, recordings and stories. This event is free and open to the public.
