UW-Eau Claire Calls for Submissions for Ninth Annual Student Film Festival

RELEASED: March 13, 2008

STIFFE logoEAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will accept submissions for the ninth annual Student Independent Film Festival through April 18.

Any UW-Eau Claire student may enter a film in competition for the STIFFE awards, which will be presented at 1 p.m. May 4 in Davies Theatre.

Awards will be given for Best Film, Best Story and Best Use of the Visual Medium. After the April 18 deadline, a panel of UW-Eau Claire students and the film committee of the Student Senate's University Activities Commission will choose three finalists in each category. Of these three finalists, the panel will select one winner. The awards will be announced at the May 4 festival.

An Audience Award, open to all films shown at the festival, also will be presented.

Although there are no time restrictions, ideally films should be no longer than 30 minutes. Entries may be submitted on VHS or DVD. The entry form is available in the Student Organizations Complex (Davies Center 132) and may be downloaded from the UAC Web site. The UAC Web site has additional information about the competition.

The STIFFE awards are sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the Student Senate.
