UW-Eau Claire Forensics Team Places
Second and Third in MAFL Tournaments

RELEASED: March 3, 2008

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team took 3rd and 2nd place respectively at the 7th and 8th Mid American Forensic League Tournaments held consecutively at Bradley University in Peoria, Ill., Feb. 23-24.

Following are the individual results from MAFL #7 hosted by Bradley University:

Senior Hilary Rasmussen, Eau Claire, placed first in prose.

Sophomore Emily Schreiner, Wausau, placed second in informative speaking and third in communication analysis.

Freshman April Ross, Wauwatosa, qualified for NFA by taking fourth in extemporaneous speaking.

Junior Justin Rudnick, Stanley, placed fourth in program oral interpretation.

Sophomore Jake Johnson, Mondovi, took fifth in both impromptu and extemporaneous speaking.

Freshman Sarah Taylor, Merrill, qualified for NFA by placing seventh in poetry.

Following are the individual results from MAFL #8 hosted by Illinois State:

Freshman Alicia Gerber, Ringle, took first in after-dinner speaking.

Sophomore Jessica Walter, Eau Claire, placed first in informative speaking.

Schreiner took second in both informative and communication analysis, qualifying for AFA in both events. She also placed third in after-dinner speaking.

Sophomore Laura Magnusson, Apple Valley, Minn., placed third in informative speaking.

Rudnick placed sixth in program oral interpretation.

Johnson placed sixth in informative speaking.
