According to a survey by the National Association of Colleges and Employers, employers are hiring college students as interns at an increasing rate, with an eye toward filling entry-level positions with those interns once they've completed their degrees. Consistent with this trend, staff members in UW-Eau Claire's Career Services office are seeing an increase in the number of student interns being hired. Over the past four years, the number of internships posted by employers through Career Services has increased by 269 percent, said Jeanne Skoug, Career Services director. "In addition, we are seeing more and more employers of our UW-Eau Claire interns who use their internship program as a recruitment tool for full-time hires," she said. Skoug is available to discuss the rising interest among employers in hiring university students as interns. She can be reached at 715-836-5358 or skougjm@uwec.edu.
