SUBJECT: Increased freshman applications for fall 2008
UW-Eau Claire is among three UW System institutions seeing substantial increases in the number of freshman applications for fall 2008, according to a June 1 UW System report.
At UW-Eau Claire, freshman applications are up 9 percent over the number received in 2007; applications are up 10 percent at both UW-Whitewater and UW-La Crosse. Systemwide, freshman applications are up 3 percent.
The increase in UW-Eau Claire applications could be attributed to a number of factors, including high school demographics, the appeal of UW-Eau Claire's programs and current economic conditions, said Kristina Anderson, UW-Eau Claire executive director of enrollment services. This year's increase also indicates that the admission process could become more competitive for 2009, she said.
Anderson is available to discuss the latest freshman application statistics. She can be reached at 715-836-2887 or anderskc@uwec.edu.
