Environmental Public Health Students Receive Scholarships from UW-Eau Claire

RELEASED: June 3, 2008

EAU CLAIRE — Six University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students majoring in environmental public health were awarded UW-Eau Claire Foundation scholarships for the 2008-09 academic year.

Freshman Ryan Arndt, Prentice, received the Tri-County Medical Alliance Scholarship for students majoring in nursing, ENPH or health care administration. An essay and demonstrated financial need are part of the selection criteria.

Senior Celina Cooper, Ladysmith, was awarded a John and Mary Gerberich Scholarship designated for junior or senior ENPH majors who have secured an internship and exhibited strong academic performance. She also was awarded a Wisconsin Rural Opportunities Foundation Scholarship. This scholarship is designated for students from farm families or rural areas majoring in nursing, ENPH or pre-veterinary medicine.

Senior Abigail Miller, Eau Claire, also was awarded a John and Mary Gerberich Scholarship, as well as an Environmental Public Health Scholarship. The ENPH scholarship is based on strong academic performance, department contributions and recommendations from faculty from outside the ENPH department.

Junior Jayme Schenk, Middleton, was awarded a John and Mary Gerberich Scholarship.

Junior Matthew Sisbach, Viroqua, was awarded a Charles M. and Isabel Ihle Medical Sciences Scholarship, which is available to juniors, seniors or graduate students in nursing, the public health professions or pre-medicine. Selection is based on strong academic performance and, to some extent, financial need.

Senior Amy Zagar, Eau Claire, was awarded an Environmental Public Health Scholarship and an Amber Star Krenz Memorial Scholarship, which is available to ENPH majors who plan to study abroad for a semester. Seniors are given priority.
