Three UW-Eau Claire Classified Staff Members Retire

RELEASED: July 23, 2008

EAU CLAIRE — Three members of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's classified staff recently retired or will retire soon.

Karen Arnsdorf, an IS operations technician senior for Learning and Technology Services, will retire in July after 34 years of service to UW-Eau Claire. Arnsdorf started her career at UW-Eau Claire in July 1975 as a management information technician 1 in Computing Services, later transferring to Data Flow and Database, where she was promoted several times. She attained her current title and position in July 2000. Among other duties, Arnsdorf was responsible for the daily production schedule of the administrative mainframe computers and distribution of the results.

Linda Baumeister, program assistant advanced in Academic Affairs, will retire in August after 21 years of state service, including the past 10 years at UW-Eau Claire. She started her career in March 1987 as a typist at the Central Animal Health Laboratory in Madison for the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, Division of Animal Health. After holding a number of other positions at various state offices, she joined UW-Eau Claire's classified staff in December 1998 as a program assistant 2 in University Centers and Programs. In 1999 she moved to Academic Affairs, where she advanced to her current position, where she has provided administrative support to the provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs.

Dennis Watton, power plant operator senior, retired in May after 10 years of service to UW-Eau Claire. He started as an LTE in the power plant in October 1998, becoming a permanent employee in July 2000. As a power plant operator senior, he operated and performed maintenance on the boilers and related lines, tested and treated the boiler water and maintained logs of operations.
