More than 175 youth are attending UW-Eau Claire sports camps for football
and volleyball this week, including 120 high school volleyball players
and 57 youth in grades 3-8 honing their football skills. Next week the
number of campers will climb to more than 300 for programs focused on
developing basketball and soccer skills. In all, more than
2,100 youth in elementary grades through high school will attend UW-Eau
Claire sports camps between June and early August. The camps are offered
for 11 different sports, many with multiple sessions. More than half
the participants live in campus residence halls while attending the
camps, while the rest commute daily to and from their homes in the Chippewa
Valley. For more information about UW-Eau Claire's summer sports camps
and to connect with the coaches involved, contact Tamara Normand, program
assistant for UW-Eau Claire athletics, at 715-836-2546 or normant@uwec.edu.
