UW-Eau Claire Summer Sounds Series to Feature
Music for Classical Guitar

guitarEAU CLAIRE — Guest Artist Jeffrey Jaworski will present the sixth concert of the Summer Sounds series at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire at 2 p.m. Aug. 3 in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

The program will begin with "Pavana" by Luis Miln and continue with "Fantasia" by Alonso Mudarra. Jaworski will follow with pieces by Fernando Sor, Mauro Giuliani, Napolon Coste, and Matteo Carcassi. The recital will also feature pieces by Heitor Villa-Lobos, Francisco Tarrega and Jorge Gomez Crespo.

Jaworski is an active guitarist in the Chippewa Valley. In addition to being an active guitarist, Jeffrey maintains a private studio at the Music Lesson Center in downtown Eau Claire. Recent performances include solo programs in Milwaukee at The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, UW-Eau Claire, UW-Green Bay, and UW-Waukesha. He has collaborated with the wind faculty at UW-Eau Claire, as well as with flute at Schmitt Music. He was featured with the Master Singers on Wisconsin Public Radio. Jaworski is a graduate of UW-Green Bay. Upcoming performances include a solo recital Aug. 16 at the Heyde Center for the Arts in Chippewa Falls.

Summer Sounds, presented by UW-Eau Claire's department of music and theatre arts, is a series of seven solo and chamber music recitals featuring weekly Sunday afternoon performances of music for winds, voice, guitar and piano. The series provides an opportunity for Eau Claire audiences to hear quality classical music in the summertime and to interact with musicians from the faculty and community. The atmosphere is casual and informal.

The final Summer Sounds event will feature Barbara Young on piano at 2 p.m., Aug. 10 in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

Summer Sounds concerts are free and open to all.
