Entrepreneurial Training Series Now Accepting Applications

RELEASED: Jan. 3, 2008

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Small Business Development Center and Continuing Education are accepting applications for an entrepreneurial training series that will begin Feb. 12.

Sessions will run from 6:30-9:15 p.m. Tuesdays Feb. 12-April 29 in the Haas Fine Arts Center. Class size is limited to ensure individual questions can be addressed so early registration is encouraged.

The 12-session training series will focus on the fundamentals of small business management, creating a business plan and attracting potential investors.

"The series is designed for those who are serious about starting a business and those already in businesses who need structured training," said SBDC Business Counseling Coordinator Jim Mishefske. "It is intended for people who need a comprehensive business plan for funding, expansion, planning or evaluation of their business idea."

The Wisconsin Department of Commerce will provide $750 tuition assistance to qualified applicants who complete the program, including the preparation of a written business plan. With the tuition assistance, the actual cost to participate in the series is $250.

The spring 2008 series schedule is:

  • Feb. 12 Feasibility/Business Plan/Online Research
  • Feb. 19 Understanding Your Market/Developing a Strategy
  • Feb. 26 Small Business Advertising and Promotion
  • March 4 E-Commerce/Web site Development

  • April 1 Customer Service & Time Management
  • April 8 Developing Your Financial Statements
  • April 15 Technology and Your Small Business
