EAU CLAIRE — The Conservative Union at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will present "The Failures of Feminism" by Angela "Bay" Buchanan at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, in Room 100 of Schneider Hall.

Buchanan is president of The American Cause, an educational foundation dedicated to advancing traditional conservative issues. She also chairs Team America, a political action committee devoted to border security and immigration reform.

Buchanan began her political career as the national treasurer of Ronald Reagan's presidential campaigns in 1980 and 1984. In 1981, Reagan appointed her to be Treasurer of the United States. At the age of 32, she became the youngest person to hold that position since it was established in 1775.

Serving as the campaign chairperson for all three of her brother Pat Buchanan's presidential campaigns, Angela Buchanan emerged as a national figure championing the right to life of the unborn child during the 1996 presidential primary season. In the summer of 1996, George magazine recognized her as one of the top 20 political women in the nation.

Currently, Buchanan is a regular political analyst on CNN. From September 1996 through August 1999, she co-anchored "Equal Time," a political talk show initially on CNBC, then MSNBC. In addition, she worked as a political analyst for "Good Morning America" throughout the general election in 1992. From 1996-97, Buchanan hosted a two-hour radio talk show program covering current events.

A native of Washington, D.C., Buchanan has a master's degree in mathematics from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. In 1981, she received an honorary doctor of law degree from Samford University in Birmingham, Ala. She is the mother of three sons.

Buchanan's presentation, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the UW-Eau Claire student organization The Conservative Union, which received funds from the Student Organization Opportunity Fund of the UW-Eau Claire Foundation.
