UW-Eau Claire to Offer
Supervisory Management Seminars

EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension will present several workshops from the Supervisory Management Certificate Program in March and April.

  • "Negotiation Skills" will be held March 4-5 at the UW-La Crosse Cleary Alumni and Friends Center. Topics include negotiating project deadlines; work assignments; budget and human resource allocations; and strategies, skills and motivations for negotiating win-win outcomes. Participants will apply the concepts to everyday interactions and specialized contract or conflict situations.
  • "Supervisory Management 3" will be held March 6-7 in Eau Claire at Sweetwaters Restaurant and on March 25-26 in La Crosse at the UW-La Crosse Cleary Alumni and Friends Center. Topics include working toward more effective coaching, establishing job expectations and critical skills in the coaching process.
  • "Maximizing Performance" will be held March 11-12 at the UW-La Crosse Cleary Alumni and Friends Center. Topics include creating an environment for excellence, identifying what you are really rewarding, fine-tuning coaching and goal-setting techniques, diagnosing performance problems, turning around undesirable behaviors and rewarding desirable behaviors.
  • "Facing Conflict Head-On!" will be held April 3-4 in Eau Claire at Sweetwaters Restaurant. Topics include the conflict process, frequent causes of organizational conflict and a process for diagnosing root causes of conflict.
  • "Supervisory Management 1" will be held April 8-9 in La Crosse at the UW-La Crosse Cleary Alumni and Friends Center, and on April 17-18 in Eau Claire at Sweetwaters Restaurant. Topics include the supervisory aspect of management, understanding your leadership style, motivating employee performance and dealing with non-performance.

All workshops meet from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Individual course fees are $425 per person and include lunch, breaks, materials and instruction. The group fee is $375 per person for three to five people from the same firm attending the same session and registering at the same time. Designed for managers, supervisors and small business owners, the workshops may be taken individually or as part of the certificate program requirements.
