CVYS Concerto Competition Finals Feb. 23 at
UW-Eau Claire

Chippewa Valley Youth Symphony logoEAU CLAIRE — The Chippewa Valley Youth Symphony Inaugural Concerto Competition Finals will be held at 1 p.m. Feb. 23 at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

The competition finals will be held in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Building. The event is free and open to the public.

The following are the 2007-08 Concerto Competition finalists: Cheng Cheng, Memorial High School in Eau Claire; Julia Johnson, Chippewa Falls Senior High; Sarah Kubiatowicz, North High School in Eau Claire; and Kate Van de Loo and Meg Van de Loo, who are homeschooled.

Musicians from the Chippewa Valley Youth Symphony could qualify to be in the finals. The top three finalists will receive a cash prize. The first-place winner will be featured during the CVYS concert season finale on May 18.

The CVYS provides opportunities for area youth in grades 7-12 to develop and showcase their musical artistry in a full symphony orchestra experience under the direction of music director Eugene Power.

This event is made possible through a partnership with the UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension.
