UW-Eau Claire Singer-Songwriter Slam
Invites Local Talent to Perform and Compete

RELEASED: Feb. 8, 2008

EAU CLAIRE — A Singer-Songwriter Slam will be presented Friday and Saturday, Feb. 15-16, as part of the Winter Carnival celebration at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The University Activities Commission of the Student Senate will present the shows at 8 p.m. in The Cabin of Davies Center. Admission is free and open to all.

Anyone is welcome to sign up to perform, but no more than 20 people can perform each evening. Performers must arrive at or before 7:30 p.m. the night of the show. There is no advance sign up. All material must be original. Performers may play one song, no more, and the performance may not exceed seven minutes. Additional rounds may be possible, depending upon the number of contestants, so performers may wish to prepare three or four different songs.

Performances will be judged by three people selected at random from the audience and two people chosen in advance by the UAC. One winner will be named each evening.

The two winners will each receive a paid local-talent spot (50-minute set) at The Cabin on May 10.

Cabin performances are free and open to all ages. Soft drinks, domestic and imported beer, specialty coffee drinks and tea are sold at all evening programs. Proof of age is required for alcohol purchases. For a complete schedule, contact the Activities and Programs office, 715-836-4833, or visit the Cabin Web site.
