SUBJECT: Choreographer working with dance students

Janice Garrett, a well-known dancer from San Francisco, will be working with UW-Eau Claire dance students from 3-6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Feb. 7-8 in the Dance Studio in Room 105 of the McPhee Center (upper campus).

Media interested in filming or photographing the students who are working with this guest artist are welcome to visit the studio Thursday or Friday.

Garrett is choreographing original work that will be presented at the annual UW-Eau Claire Danceworks performance in April.

Janice Garrett & Dancers will perform kinetic modern dance San Francisco style at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, in Zorn Arena as part of the Artist Series at UW-Eau Claire. Garrett and her company have received five nominations for Isadora Duncan Dance Awards as well as the 2004 "Twenty-five to Watch" honor bestowed by Dance Magazine.

Toni Poll-Sorensen also will host a discussion with Garrett at 6 p.m. Monday in the Dulany restaurant in Davies Center.

The group may continue working this weekend at a time yet to be announced.
