Small Business Development Center to Sponsor Patent Law and Licensing Workshops

EAU CLAIRE — The Small Business Development Center at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension will present two workshops on the "Myths and Realities of Intellectual Property Law and Patent Law Fundamentals."

"Patent Law Fundamentals" will run from 5:30-9:30 p.m. March 5. It will provide a basic understanding of patent law, types of patents and explain how a patent can help protect new products or ideas.

"Basics of IP Licensing and Trademark Law Fundamentals" will run from 5:30-9:30 p.m. March 12. It will cover the basics of licensing, demonstrate the significance of trademarks and discuss how to maximize the benefits of trademarks.

These courses are designed for business owners, research and development managers, inventors, engineers, investors, entrepreneurs, scientist and managers. Companies of any size that wants to commercialize new product ideas and have trademarks to clear, protect or license, and others involved in business and technology will benefit.

Program presenters are Anthony J. Bourget, a leader in intellectual property law in Western Wisconsin, and Michael T. Hess, a patent attorney and associate with Bourget Law.

The workshops will be held at the Chippewa Valley Technical College's Gateway Campus.

The program fee is $89 per person or $150 for those registering for both programs at the same time.
