Society of Participating Honor Students Initiates New Members at UW-Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Society of Participating Honor Students selected officers and initiated 26 members new members this fall. View list of initiates.

Newly-elected SOPHS officers are: president, Deanna Schlies, Denmark; vice-president, Brittany Gosse, Abbotsford; treasurer, Jill Greeno, Sparta; secretary, Morgan Baumgard, Lindstrom, Minn.; webmaster, Amanda Redman, Wells, Minn. and honors week steering committee representatives Lauren Lamers, Appleton and Emma Wiermaa, White Bear Lake, Minn. Faculty advisers are Paula Stuettgen, Blake Westerlund and Ryan Banaszak.

SOPHS was established in the fall of 1977 at UW-Eau Claire to recognize sophomore students who have achieved academic excellence as well as outstanding campus and community involvement during their freshman year. During the past year, SOPHS granted scholarships to two outstanding sophomores, served meals at the Eau Claire Community Table; and raised over $1,000 for the Family Support Group through its annual telethon.
