EAU CLAIRE — A University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire student is one of five recipients of a $1,000 scholarship from J.J. Keller & Associates Inc.

Senior Celina Cooper, an environmental public health major from Ladysmith, was chosen to receive the Keller Scholarship based on her grade-point average, a personal essay and correct identification of a number of safety hazards related to Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations in two photos taken from an industrial setting. She also made suggestions about creating a safer workplace.

Cooper said she plans to become a registered sanitarian after graduating from UW-Eau Claire and expects to work in the field inspecting restaurants, tattoo establishments, hotels, grocery stores, campgrounds and pools.

"The winners of this year's KellerOnline University Program Scholarships are dedicated to the safety profession, have a strong understanding of the challenges they may face, and understand the significant impact that they can have on the organizations in which they might work, " said Rustin Keller, corporate Internet products manager for J.J. Keller and Associates.

KOL integrates safety management processes to help users reduce accident rates, decrease injuries and lower workers' compensation costs.

The KOL University Program is a free program offered by J.J. Keller that provides professors and students with access to reference materials, safety-specific interactive tools and applications, and industry information. More information on the scholarship program is available online.
