Ten New UW-Eau Claire Students Named Kopp Presidential Scholars

RELEASED: Aug. 5, 2008

EAU CLAIRE — Ten students who will attend the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire this fall have been named Kopp Presidential Scholars for the 2008-09 academic year.

The university awards Kopp Presidential Scholarships to up to 10 new freshmen on the basis of academic achievement, national test scores, and school and community leadership and service. The nonrenewable scholarship funds are made possible by a gift from Kopp Investment Advisors, Edina, Minn., to the UW-Eau Claire Foundation.

The new Kopp Presidential Scholars are:

  • Megan Byron, Blaine, Minn., daughter of Brad and Margaret Byron
  • Anthony Dahl, Eau Claire, son of Cindy Shannon
  • Kristi Basa, Savage, Minn., daughter of James and Kari Basa
  • Emily Hazard, Fairchild, daughter of Phil and Michelle Hazard
  • Emily Trudeau Spanjers, Forest Lake, Minn., daughter of Michelle Trudeau-Spanjers
  • Rebecca Dier, Algoma, daughter of Jeff and Alana Dier
  • Kelli Basa, Savage, Minn., daughter of James and Kari Basa
  • Brianna Denk, Greenwood, daughter of Julie Denk
  • Elizabeth O'Brien, Rice Lake, daughter of Mark and Mary O'Brien
  • Johanna Conrad, Lake Nebagamon, daughter of Dan and Carol Conrad.
