Epsilon Omicron Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi
to Sponsor Bone Marrow Drive May 8

RELEASED: April 24, 2008

EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Epsilon Omicron chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, an international honor society in education, will sponsor a bone marrow drive from noon-7 p.m. May 8 in the Arrowhead Room of Davies Center.

During the drive, participants will register for the National Marrow Donor Program. The registry helps doctors find donor matches for patients in need. According to the National Donor Program, patients of all racial and ethnic backgrounds are in urgent need of donors to survive, and the best chance for a marrow match is between people who share the same heritage.

To join, people must be between the ages of 18 and 60, be willing to donate to any patient in need, and meet the health guidelines found at the National Marrow Donor Web site.

Potential donors will fill out a registration form with contact information and health history. People must bring a picture form of identification and contact information for two friends or family members in case of an address change. Donors also will be asked to give a swab of cheek cells for tissue type testing. There is no cost for testing or joining the registry.

For more information, call 715-726-2400, ext. 2244, or see their Web site.
