SUBJECT: UW-Eau Claire Emergency Preparedness Plan
UW-Eau Claire will recognize the first anniversary of the Virginia Tech shootings by remembering the students and faculty members who lost their lives that day. At 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, April 16, the campus carillon chimes will toll 32 times, once for each of the victims.
Earlier today, Chancellor Brian Levin-Stankevich sent a message to the entire campus community asking them to remember the victims of the Virginia Tech tragedy and outlining steps UW-Eau Claire has taken in the months since those shootings to ensure our campus is prepared to respond to an emergency of any kind.
In his message, the chancellor described the multiple communication technologies the campus will employ in an emergency situation and encouraged all students, faculty and staff to register for UW-Eau Claire's new cell phone notification system. The notification system will allow the university to send a text message during a crisis to anyone who has subscribed. View chancellor's message.
Chancellor Levin-Stankevich is available to discuss UW-Eau Claire's crisis planning efforts. You can reach him at 715-836-2327.
