Program to Help Turn Creative Passions into Profit

RELEASED: April 14, 2008

EAU CLAIRE — A program for people who would like to make a living using their artistic or creative talents will be offered by University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education from 5:30-9:30 p.m. May 1 at Racy D'Lene's Coffee Lounge.

The program, "Business Basics for Creative Minds — Turn Your Passion into Profit," will cover business basics including how to get started, product or service pricing, marketing versus promotion and evaluating strengths and weaknesses. Participants will leave with a start-up guide.

Jean Accola, an area artist and successful businesswoman, and Jim Mishefske, director of the Small Business Development Center at UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education, will be the featured speakers at the event.

Painters, sculptors, photographers, musicians, writers, graphic artists, web designers, actors, culinary artists, crafters, interior designers and other talented individuals are encouraged to attend the program.
