EAU CLAIRE — Indie folk artist Chris Jacob will play three free concerts at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire April 18-19, with performances Friday at 11:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. and Saturday at 8 p.m. in The Cabin, the Davies Center coffeehouse.

Born and raised in the Midwest, Chris Jacob is a ceaseless traveler with a mindful approach to life. His varied experience across the land lends a deeply personal and culturally expansive quality to his music. The time Jacob has spent working in the archives of Smithsonian Folkways, playing small bars in rural towns and performing at large folk festivals has helped shape his dynamic and inclusive sound.

With an honest sentiment in his voice and a self-taught authenticity to his percussive guitar style, Chris Jacob summons the purity of past musical traditions while generating his own vision in pursuit of genuine songwriting. With his debut album, "Passes By," he maintains his musical integrity with a raw and beautifully imperfect first studio performance. His live show is an act of truth and charisma, displaying a character well-suited for the stage. Continually writing, performing and recording have given Jacob the quality of sound and the faithful audience of a true folkster. Like a musical anthropologist, he demonstrates that the essence of the moment, of the land and of the people can be captured in song.

Cabin performances are free and open to all ages. Soft drinks, domestic and imported beer, specialty coffee drinks and tea are sold at all evening programs. Proof of age is required for alcohol purchases.

For a complete schedule, contact the Activities and Programs office, 715-836-4833, or visit the Cabin Web site.

All performances are produced and managed completely by student members of The Cabin committee of the Student Senate's University Activities Commission.
