Registration Begins for Summer Youth Programs

EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education will offer an array of learning opportunities this summer, including Summer Institute, Brain Blasters and the Chippewa Valley Museum day camps.

Summer Institute sessions will be held from June 16-26 at Halmstad Elementary in Chippewa Falls and from July 7-17 at Locust Lane Elementary in Eau Claire. Summer Institute classes are offered in math, science, language arts, social studies, foreign languages, creative arts, music and sports. Presented in two-hour periods from 8:00 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday, classes emphasize hands-on, interactive learning. Both sessions include a kindergarten program for children entering 4- or 5-year-old kindergarten in fall of 2008.

Brain Blasters is Continuing Education's newest summer program for 6th-8th grade students. Classes, which were designed for the middle school audience, include science, technology, math, writing, art, history, sports and more. Brain Blasters will be held June 16-26 at the Chippewa Falls Middle School and July 7-17 at South Middle School in Eau Claire. Classes meet from 8:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

The Chippewa Valley Museum day camps will again be offered in partnership with the Chippewa Valley Museum. Open to 3rd-6th grade students, Farm Life Adventures will be held from 9 a.m.-noon weekdays Aug. 4-8 and Time Travelers from 9 a.m.-noon weekdays Aug. 11-15 at the Chippewa Valley Museum in Carson Park. Flexible registration options allow students to participate for one day, two weeks or anywhere in between.

UW-Eau Claire Summer Youth Program brochures are delivered directly to public and private schools in Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls. Parents whose children have not received a brochure should contact their schools. Home school or out-of-district parents may contact the Continuing Education office for a brochure.
