Touring Print Show from UW-Green Bay
to Open at UW-Eau Claire's Foster Gallery

RELEASED: Sept 27, 2007

EAU CLAIRE — Refresh Print Biennial II: "Global Networks and Intimate Exchanges," a touring juried exhibition from the Lawton Gallery at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, will open at UW-Eau Claire's Foster Gallery in the Haas Fine Arts Center Thursday, Oct. 11, with an opening reception at 7:30 p.m. that evening in the gallery.

The exhibit, which will be on display through Nov. 1, features a variety of 60 traditional and digital prints by 24 artists.

According to the exhibition's curators, UW-Green Bay art professors Sarah Detweiler and Christine Style, the world is increasingly viewed as a community where distance and isolation have been reduced for many of the earth's inhabitants by electronic media. For this exhibit, "Global Networks and Intimate Exchanges," the curators sought print works that represent problems, questions or ideas that either speak directly to large global ideas or to their antithesis — private ideas that relate to people in contemporary society.

Foster Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening and 1-4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. For more information about gallery exhibits, call Foster Gallery director Tom Wagener at 715-836-2328.
