Prevention of High-Risk Alcohol Use

Let's Do Lunch postcardEAU CLAIRE — Measures University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is introducing to reduce high-risk alcohol use by students will be part of a discussion led by Jennifer Lee, director of the UW-Eau Claire Center for Alcohol Studies and Education at a Sept. 26 luncheon. Lee will give a presentation from noon to 1 p.m. at Sweetwaters Restaurant titled "P's of High-risk behavior reduction: Proactive measures, Preventative efforts, Partnering, and Planning." The presentation is part of the Alumni Association's "Let's Do Lunch" series.

"I believe it's important for the university to share the preventative work happening at UW-Eau Claire on the dangers and social issues surrounding high-risk alcohol use," Lee said. "I want to share these new exciting efforts with the community and invite the public to come and share their ideas on this important topic as well."

Lee has been with the university since 1994, where she was a residence hall director for 12 year and served as interim assistant director of housing. She has a psychology degree from Minnesota State University at Mankato and a master's degree in student counseling and personnel services from Kansas State University. Lee also is the director of the new Blugold Parent and Families office.

The upcoming "Let's Do Lunch" speaker is MJ Brukardt, UW-Eau Claire special assistant to the chancellor for strategic planning, on Oct. 31. Her talk is titled "Strategic Planning: Trick or Treat?"

The speaker series is open to the public. The cost is $10 per session and includes the presentation, buffet, beverage, tax and tip. To reserve tickets, send e-mail to alumni@uwec.edu or call 715-836-3266 for more information.
