Six Counseling Groups
Offered for Fall Semster

RELEASED: Sept. 13, 2007

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Counseling Services are offering the following counseling groups for the fall 2007 semester.

  • ADD/ADHD Support Group: Oct. 24-Dec. 5, Wednesdays, 3-4:30 p.m.
    This six session group will help recognize strengths and weaknesses, address self-esteem and put criticism in its place, improve relationships, and improve time management and organizational skills. Pete Chellman is the group facilitator.
  • Assertiveness Skills Group: Oct. 15-Nov. 26, Mondays, 2-3:30 p.m.
    This is a six session group with training in assertive social skills.
    Participants will learn to express themselves and feel good about doing so without hurting others in the process. Pete Chellman is the group facilitator.
  • Coping with Depression: Oct. 11-Dec. 13, Thursdays, 2-3 p.m.
    This is an educational, cognitive, and experiential group to discuss techniques, ideas, and strategies for working through those "down times." It is a supportive group environment for the college student. Dr. Roberta Goodman is the group facilitator.
  • First Offenders Alcohol Education Groups: These are offered on an as needed basis and facilitated by Counseling Services staff. This program meets the requirements of the Eau Claire courts "First Time Offender" Program. Call or stop by the Counseling Services office for more information.
  • LGBT Support Group: Sept. 19-all semester, Wednesdays, 3-4 p.m.
    This group allows students to explore and discuss, in a safe and supportive environment, coming out; relationships with partners, friends and family; and just being a college student. Carol Schumacher is the group facilitator.
  • Veteran's Support Group: Sept. 25-all semester, Tuesdays, 3-4 p.m.
    This is an unstructured support group. Speakers may be brought in as the group wishes. Dr. P.J. Kennedy, a U.S. Navy Medical Corpsman, 1968-1971, is the group facilitator.
