Annual Faculty Art Show
to Open this Week at UW-Eau Claire

RELEASED: Sept. 10, 2007

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Foster Gallery, located in the Haas Fine Arts Center, will open the fall season in its traditional way, with a Faculty Art Show featuring the results of the past year's research by studio art faculty from the department of art & design. The exhibit will open Thursday, Sept. 13, with an opening reception in the gallery from 7:30-9 p.m. The show runs through Oct. 4.

This fall the featured faculty artists are Michael Christopherson, who recently was selected as recipient of the Max Schoenfeld Distinguished Professorship award, and Steven Terwilliger, chair of the department of art & design.

Christopherson will show four large abstract sculptures created in 2006. The works are wall reliefs made of pine and acrylic paint. Each uses the circle as the dominant element in the design of the sculpture.

Terwilliger will show three pieces — one digital photographic work and two mixed media pieces involving sculptural installation and video.

Foster Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening and 1-4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. For more information about gallery exhibits, call Foster Gallery director Tom Wagener at 715-836-2328.
