EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Student Wellness Advocacy Team is collaborating with Colleges Against Cancer and the Tobacco Free Partnership of Eau Claire County to bring the Great American Smokeout block party to Eau Claire from 4 to7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Goat Coffee House, 408 Water Street.
Originally sponsored by the American Cancer Society, The Great American Smokeout is a day recognized across the nation to promote tobacco cessation for 24 hours.
The SWATeam will offer free "Quit Kits" to those committed to quitting for the 24 hours of the smokeout.
"This event is a great opportunity for both students and community members to share their experiences regarding tobacco, while also offering a variety of local resources to those interested in quitting tobacco," said Student Health Services' health education assistant Ashley Borman.
Students and community members are encouraged to stop by and enjoy free refreshments, music and games and pick up information about local smoke-free and cessation resources.
For more information about the Great American Smokeout, contact Borman at 715-836-5076 or email her at bormanag@uwec.edu.
