Two UW-Eau Claire Students Earn Scholarships
From the Greater Milwaukee Foundation

Greater Milwaukee Foundation logoEAU CLAIRE — Two University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students received 2007-08 Walter Jay and Clara Charlotte Damm Scholarships from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation.

Sophomore Janie Boschma, Colby, a print journalism major and political science minor, received $2,000.

Sophomore Angie E. Jones, Wauwatosa, a broadcast journalism major, was awarded $1,500.

The scholarships are awarded to full-time continuing students pursing a career in radio, television or other news and entertainment communications media. The primary criteria for selection are financial need and scholastic ability.

Preference for the scholarship also is given to students who have a current relationship with Journal Communications Inc. or one of its subsidiaries, such as The Journal Sentinel Inc., Journal Community Publishing Group, or Journal Broadcast Group.

The scholarship funds for tuition and fees are awarded in two parts, half in the fall of 2007 and half in the spring of 2008.

The Greater Milwaukee Foundation is a family of nearly 1,000 individual charitable funds, each created by donors to serve the local charitable causes of their choice. Grants from these funds serve people throughout Milwaukee, Waukesha, Ozaukee and Washington counties. Started in 1915, the Foundation is one of the oldest and largest community foundations in the United States.
