UW-Eau Claire Forensics Team Does Well
at MAFL Even with Small Team

RELEASED: Oct. 8, 2007

EAU CLAIRE — With only five students competing, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team placed third at the Mid America Forensics League Tournament #2 on Sunday, Sept. 30, at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The team placed fifth at the Mid America Forensics League Tournament #1 held Saturday, Sept. 29, at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.

Following are the individual results from MAFL #1:

Senior Hillary Rasmussen, Eau Claire, placed second in informative speaking, qualifying that event for the National Forensics Association Tournament. Rasmussen also placed second in duo interpretation with junior Eric Plantenberg, Monroe, qualifying the event for NFA.

Junior Justin Rudnick, Stanley, took fourth in informative speaking qualifying for NFA. He also placed fifth in communication analysis.

Sophomore Nathan Jahnke, Madison, placed fifth in informative speaking qualifying for NFA.

Following are individual results from MAFL #2:

First place in persuasion went to Platenberg.

Rasmussen placed first in informative speaking and dramatic interpretation, and she and Platenberg once again took second place in duo interpretation.

Freshman Meghan Pickard, Eau Claire, placed fourth in informative speaking.

Rudnick took fourth place in communication analysis.
