UW-Eau Claire's Jazz Ensemble III
to Perform Fall Concert

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Jazz Ensemble III will present a fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

The ensemble, under the direction of Jeffery Crowell, assistant professor of music, will begin the concert with "The Drum Also Waltzes" by Max Roach, featuring senior Ben Lester, Eau Claire, on drums, followed by Frank Mantooth's "If I were a Bellson" and Victor Mendoza's arrangement of "All Blues" by Miles Davis. The music of Thad Jones, Sonny Rollins and Charles Mingus also will be featured.

The second half of the concert will start with another of Roach's drum pieces, "Mr. Hi-Hat," featuring junior Brian Claxton, Pepin, on drums, followed by "Young and Fine" by Joe Zawinul and alumnus Geoff Keezer's arrangement of "Work Song" by Nat Adderly. The rest of the set will feature another piece by Zawinul, a Rufus Reid arrangement of Thelonius Monk's "Round Midnight" and "Ecclusiastics" by Charles Mingus, as arranged by Sy Johnson.

Tickets, available at the University Service Center, 715-836-3727 or 800-949-UWEC, are $4 for the general public; $3 for those 62 and older, children 17 and younger and faculty and staff with a university ID; and free for students with a university ID.
