Summer Youth Programs

EAU CLAIRE — UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education has learning opportunities for Chippewa Valley youth from kindergarten through high school. Choices include the following:

  • Summer Institute (grades K-8) Chippewa Falls session, June 18-28 at Hillcrest Elementary. Registration deadline is May 21. Open classes are "Look Out Kindergarten, Here I Come"; "Ready, Set, Learn"; "Critter Quest"; "Budding Artist "; "Build Your Dream House"; "Ceramics"; "Scrapbooking Madness"; "Wonderful World of Textures"; "Eco-Art"; "Greetings Galore"; "Beginning Knitting"; "Deutsche Klass; Guten Morgen"; "Fiesta Espanola"; "My Very Own Web Page"; "Math Stories"; "Rockets! Rockets! Rockets!"; "Cross Country Craze"; "Storybook Ballet"; "Lawn Games"; and "Healthy Food & Fitness."
  • Summer Institute (grades K-8) Eau Claire session July 9-19 at Locust Lane Elementary. Registration deadline is June 15. Open classes include "Look Out Kindergarten, Here I Come"; "Ready, Set, Learn"; "Scrapbooking Madness"; "Eco-Art"; "Beginning Knitting"; "Deutsche Klass: Guten Morgen"; "French is Fun"; "Beginning Ballet & Jazz"; "Elementary Show Choir"; "Cross Country Craze"; "Gear Up for Golf"; "Lawn Games"; "Camping for Kids"; and "Healthy Food & Fitness."
  • SmART Summer Art (grades 6-12) on the UW-Eau Claire campus. Registration deadline is July 20. Open classes are "The Art of Photography and Film Developing"; "Book Art"; "Discovering the World through Art: The Middle Ages"; and "Eco-Art: Creating with Nature."
  • Chippewa Valley Museum Day Camp - Museum Mysteries (grades 3-6) August 13-17. Registration deadline is Aug. 1.

Summer Institute and SmArt program tuitions are $65 per class, with some additional fees for class materials. The Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire school districts cover some tuition costs for students residing in these districts. Chippewa Valley Museum Day Camp - Museum Mystery — is $10 per day or $50 for five days. School District credits do not apply; parents are responsible for the full camp fee at the time of registration. Charter Bank also pays tuition for one class for children who opened a College Fund Account on or before May 1, 2004.

Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis at 210 Water St. in Eau Claire. Registrations can be faxed to 715-836-5263. No phone registrations can be accepted.
