Outstanding Students to Be Honored at
Alumni Association Luncheon May 9

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Alumni Association will honor 17 outstanding students and scholarship recipients at an award luncheon May 9 at noon in the Tamarack Room in Davies Center. The luncheon will also recognize faculty involved in the "Let's Do Lunch" Program.

Inn-Ah Park, a nursing major from Daegu, South Korea, will receive the Center for International Education Outstanding Student Award.

Bee Xiong, Eau Claire, will receive the Multicultural Affairs Office Outstanding Student Award. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in social work in December 2006.

Lori Scardino, Eau Claire, will receive the Nontraditional Student Services Outstanding Student Award. Scardino is planning to graduate this month with a bachelor's degree in chemistry.

Rachel Anderson, a physics major from St. Paul, Minn., and Victoria Udalova, an economics major from Eau Claire/Russia, will receive College of Arts and Sciences Outstanding Undergraduate Student Awards. Both are planning to graduate with bachelor's degrees this month.

Lindsey Zastrow, Green Bay, will receive the College of Business Outstanding Student Award. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in marketing in December 2006.

Allison Shuda, an elementary education major from Eau Claire, and Stephanie Lopez, an athletic training major from Rochester, Minn., will receive College of Education and Human Sciences Outstanding Student Awards. Both plan to graduate with bachelor's degrees this month

Anna Nummelin, Stevens Point, will receive the College of Nursing and Health Sciences Outstanding Student Award. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in nursing in December 2006.

Graduate students will also be honored at the luncheon.

Tabitha Erdey and Jasmine Krotzman will receive College of Arts and Sciences Outstanding Graduate Student Awards. Erdey, Sheboygan Falls, will graduate this month with a master's degree in history and a certificate in public history. Krotzman, Richland Center, received a master's degree in English in August 2006. She currently lectures in the English department at UW-Eau Claire.

Jerry Kollross, Eau Claire/Greendale, will receive the College of Business Outstanding Student Award. He graduated with a master of business administration degree in December 2006.

Jessica Severson will receive the College of Education and Human Sciences Outstanding Student Award. Severson, Ladysmith, will graduate this month with a master's degree in teaching.

Diane Marcyjanik, Bloomer, will receive the College of Nursing and Heath Sciences Outstanding Student Award. She will graduate this month with a master's degree in nursing with specializations in family health and education role preparation.

In addition, the luncheon will honor two 2006-07 scholarship recipients.

Patricia Gunderson, an art and Spanish major from Eau Claire, will receive the Leonard and Dorellen Haas Scholarship.

Kristina Kemp, a nursing major from Woodbury, Minn., will receive the Richard E. and Jane Hibbard Scholarship.

Faculty will also be recognized for their involvement in the "Let's do Lunch" Program, which offers informative and educational lunch presentations to interested alumni. The following faculty members have been involved in the program:

  • Dr. Timothy Bawden, assistant professor of geography and anthropology
  • Dr. Don Christian, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences
  • Dr. Mark Clark, professor of foundations of education
  • Pat Dillion, Wisconsin Entrepreneurs' Network
  • Dr. Doug Dunham, associate professor of physics and astronomy
  • Dr. Sean Hartnett, professor of geography and anthropology
  • Dr. Maureen Mack, professor of curriculum and instruction and women's studies
  • Colleen McFarland, assistant professor in library services
  • Dr. Donald Mowry, director of the Center for Service-Learning
  • Dr. Justin Patchin, assistant professor of political science
