EAU CLAIRE — Building more respectful, effective and successful workplaces is the focus for "GEN-CON 2007: Bridge the Gap" The conference, directed by Gen X individuals from several area organizations, is designed for employers, managers, and employees of all ages. The interactive, innovative educational event will be held at Action City in Eau Claire from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 9.

Conference keynote speaker and facilitator Kassia Dellabough brings a wide range of experiences in leadership development, teaching adult learners, cross-cultural communications, program development and generational marketing. She is an independent consultant operating the Institute for Creative Learning and works as a senior consultant for Learning Resources Network and in the Office of Professional Outreach and Development for Students at the University of Oregon. Ms. Dellabough will provide a generational overview, framework and characteristics and discuss their connections to work styles, learning styles, and communication.
Mixed generational groups will discuss differences and identify ways to complement one another in the following areas:
"This conference brings awareness of generational differences in the workplace to the next productive step — bridging the gap," said Ann Rupnow, UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education business and industry outreach specialist. "Possibilities are unlimited for organizational improvements in areas such as: teamwork, communication, innovation, employee morale, customer service and more. Ultimately, a company's bottom line and overall sustainability is strengthened."
GEN-CON 2007 is a Synergy event organized by UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education with the generous support and sponsorship of many businesses and organizations.
The cost to attend is $44 and includes refreshments, lunch, and one Action City attraction.
