Domestic Violence Vigil to Be Held
April 2 at UW-Eau Claire Campus Mall

RELEASED: March 23, 2007

EAU CLAIRE — A Domestic Violence Vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, April 2, on the Campus Mall at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire to honor and remember those affected by domestic violence. All are invited.

According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, one in four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime.

The all-female a capella group Audacious will perform to kick off the event. Guest speakers Sarah Harless, domestic violence advocate for the Women's and Gender Equity Center at UW-Eau Claire, Jessica Bryan, from the UW-Stout Campus Violence Prevention Project, and Laurel Kieffer, a UW-Eau Claire Women's Studies lecturer, will discuss domestic violence and their work as advocates. The vigil will end with an opportunity for participants to share their thoughts, feelings and experiences with domestic violence.

The event is being sponsored by WAGE and the Eau Claire Progressive Film Festival.
