UW-Eau Claire's mathematics department will host an event at noon Wednesday, March 14, in Room 507 of Hibbard Hall to celebrate Pi Day (3.14).
A number of faculty members have volunteered to let students throw pies at them for $1 per pie.
The money raised will be donated to the Eberth Alarcon Memorial Scholarship Fund, which was created in honor of the late Eberth Alarcon. Dr. Alarcon, 40, died in September 2006 after a battle against acute leukemia. He had joined the university's mathematics faculty in 1995.
For details about the Pi Day event, contact Dr. Matt Bloss, assistant professor of mathematics, at 715-836-4616 or blossmm@uwec.edu.
