Announces Board Changes, New President

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Alumni Association has announced changes to its board of directors for 2007-08, including the appointment of new officers, the retirements of several members and the addition of six new members.

The board's primary functions are to generate programs and activities for alumni and serve as a public relations organization for the Alumni Association.

Sam Stagliano '81, a CPA shareholder, small business consultant and income tax planner with Bauman Associates Ltd. in Eau Claire, is the new board president. He has been a board member since 2001. His responsibilities include serving as official board spokesperson, attending alumni functions, presenting Alumni Association awards and running the board's quarterly meetings. He succeeds Marcia Nelson Jezwinski '71, who had served as board president since June 2005.

"Our thanks to Marcia Nelson Jezwinski for her outstanding service as our board president these past two years," said Stagliano. "I appreciate the opportunity to serve as board president of this outstanding Alumni Association and will strive to continue the high standard of leadership that Marcia and our previous presidents have set."

Katy Kiley '01, special projects director of the Eau Claire Chamber of Commerce, is vice president. Kiley is one of four board members who agreed to serve another three-year term on the board after their first terms expired this month. The others are Matthew Greeson '01, Ham Lake, Minn., an investment banker with Greene, Holcomb & Fisher; Jeff Johnson '86, Arden Hills, Minn., director of corporate finance for Deluxe Corp.; and Tim Skutley '99, an Eau Claire educator. Their terms will expire in June 2010.

Mark Gilbertson '89, Mary Heimstead '75 and Joanne Horan '57 all are retiring from the board this month after serving two three-year terms. . Student board representative Mark Cooper, Stevens Point, also retired from the board.

In addition, six new board members were approved at the March 2007 board meeting. They will begin serving their first three-year terms on Aug. 3. They are Andy Brown '00, an Eau Claire educator; Lori Haschke '02, a K-12 program coordinator for the cognitively disabled in New Lisbon; Todd Pauls '96, an Eau Claire private practice attorney; Joseph Piket '86, an independent IT consultant in Maple Grove, Minn.; Rick Schroder '77, owner of Trident Group LLC, Issaquah, Wash.; and Linda Spaeth '72, assistant director of the Academic Skills Center at UW-Eau Claire.
